The Daily Nonpareil Received Bluffs Arts Council President's Award at Annual Meeting Held Jan. 12, 2010

The Daily Nonpareil received the award because of their support of the Bluffs Arts Council's Grant Wood Corn Room Mural Restoration Project. Jon Leu wrote weekly articles about the project for over six months.

Youth Showcase Art Contest: Prospectus and Application

Students in the area are invited to participate in the Bluffs Arts Council Youth Showcase Artist competition by depicting the theme "Art as a Part of Our Lives". The purpose of the contest is to highlight and promote local young emerging artists. Students are asked to submit a piece of artwork which will become a showcase piece for the Bluffs Arts Council. Each participating student artist must be between 14 and 21 years of age at the time the entries are due, March 1, 2010. A winner will be selected and announced at a special reception to be held in April. There is a $200 cash prize for the student chosen.

SCHERENSCHNITTE (GERMAN for "Scissor Cuts") - $12 Ages 7+

Scherenschnitte refers to the arts of paper cutting. From simple snowflakes to intricate designs, learn about and practice this artform with teacher Kim Swanger. Learn techniques to make impressive and inexpensive handmade Valentine cards just in time for the holiday! $12 for students ages 7 and above. $5 discount for BAC Members and Gold Plus Center Members.
