Black Squirrel Arts Academy

Black Squirrel Arts Academy is a week-long art camp just for kids ages 10-12. We will be offering 2 different camps this year at 2 different locations!

Dates: July 14-18 and July 21-25

Week One: July 14th - 18th

Week One: Culinary Arts for Kids; Pottery

Location: Lewis Central High School, Council Bluffs

1/2 -day is spent on each topic during each day of the camp. Culinary Arts: Students will learn about the natural beauty of food, the art of nutrition, basic techniques for food preparation and an exploration of the world of foods. Pottery: Students will learn basic techniques of pottery-making. The week will culminate in a project which involves both the arts of pottery-making and culinary creativity.

Week Two: July 21st - 25th

Art/Architecture/History; Musical Arts Sampler (Music,dance, performance)

Location: Held at Community Hall, 203 South Main Street.

Art/Architecture/History: Students will study the architecture and history of particular buildings or homes in the downtown area. Through drawing, they will complete a wall mural. Music: Students will be introduced to several varieties of musical and performance arts.

Time, Where & How Much?

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Note: Monday through Friday with care available before and after camp at 7:30 a.m. and until 5:30 p.m.

How Much:

$150 per week; BAC Members $135. Students are asked to bring a sack lunch. Childcare extra @ $3 per 1/2 hour.

Note: Children can be registered for one or both weeks. Each student will receive a Black Squirrel Academy tee-shirt at the end of the week.
